The tungsten wire is used in series with the quartz lamp tube in the mercury lamp. Mercury lamps are electric light sources that produce visible light by generating mercury vapor when mercury is discharged.
When the tungsten wire is applied to the high-pressure mercury lamp, the inner wall of the glass shell is not coated with fluorescent powder, but a tungsten wire is connected in series between the shell and the quartz lamp tube, which not only acts as a ballast, but also radiates what the high-pressure mercury lamp lacks.
